CEO & FOUNDER
Tom founded ILA Capital to bring a quantitative investment approach to marketplace lending. He is the CEO of the firm and works closely with clients as well as fine tuning the investment approach to find uncommon value in private credit. With Dr. Chris Malloy and Dr. Lauren Cohen as fellow founders, Tom saw an opportunity to develop a model driven approach to investing in this new and growing space. Tom has a background in quantitative trading in foreign exchange and brought over these skills to find value in marketplace lending. He wrote his thesis at Oxford on modelling credit default risk and was well positioned to build a firm to capitalize on the opportunities in this growing space.
Previous to ILA, Tom has 20+ years of experience in global markets focusing on foreign exchange where he has been based in the UK, Europe and the US. He has in depth experience in trading, market making, risk management, structuring and distribution. He has his series 24, 7, 66 and 63 licenses and has an undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Alabama and a Masters in Applied Mathematics from Oxford. He is a dual US and UK citizen. He has spoken at fintech events in the US, Europe and Asia.
